It's Senior Photo time
It's one of my favorite times of the year: fall festivals, pumpkin flavored everything, lower humidity, and senior pictures. A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of photographing Alyssa, Class of 2016 (Oh my god, where does the time go?!) in Lititiz, PA.
I think a successful photo shoot comes down to two things:
- Helping your model look their best
- Showcasing who they really are
Alyssa is passionate about Lacrosse and photography so we wanted to make sure to feature those interests in her photos. The American flag is also an important motif her photos as one of her family heirlooms is an American Flag and one her very dear friends has just enlisted in the armed services.

Gambit
Shooting outdoors in the fall is a lot like gambling. When I say fall, you think, beautiful colors + cooler temperatures + pumpkin lattes = awesome pictures. And that does happen, don't get me wrong. However, as a photographer who has been doing this for awhile, I know that October can also dish out unpredictable weather in spades (coooold temperatures, wind, snow, etc.) hence the gambit.
But let me me just say, shooting Erin's senior pictures last Saturday, was a like being a dealt a full house. I met Erin and her dad at Central Market on Saturday morning and the weather was perfect: mild, sunny, and an occasional gentle breeze. We started the shoot at Prince Street Cafe (one of Erin's favorites), made a new friend named Cocoa at Central Market, and toured Gallery Row before we headed over to Lancaster County Park and really took advantage of the fall colors.
Sometimes, you win big.
