Vantage Point
CLIENT: Dickinson College
MY ROLE: Art Direction, Editorial Design
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The goal of this small student-faculty research team was to select photographs from the archives and locate the exact place (or Vantage Point) on campus where the original images were created. Beyond exact location, each student was also challenged to find the height of the camera, the placement of the tripod (north-south-east-west) and the correct focal length of the lens. Through carefully recreating these photographs, students have a living history experience, one that places them in the history of the college in a way they would never receive from a book or by just viewing the old photographs. Instead they are creating the history that others will be viewing in the years to come.
The resulting book will be used by the administration in fund-raising campaigns for the college and to serve as an enduring example of successful student-faculty collaborations.
